The Water Plant Superintendent is a mid-manager position in the Utilities Department, who receives direction from the Director of Utilities. The position is responsible for supervising the work of operations staff assigned to the John Jones Water Treatment Plant, the City’s 30 million gallon per day potable water treatment plant, and the operation of the City groundwater well system. The position is also responsible for coordinating the delivery of water from South San Joaquin Irrigation District and must immediately identify and correct plant problems as they occur. The Water Plant Superintendent is also responsible for operations of multiple water reservoirs, pump stations, pressure booster stations and pressure relief valves. The incumbent for this position should have knowledge of Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) and Process Logic Controllers (PLC) associated with water treatment and well operations. Knowledge of principles, methods, and practices used in water treatment and distribution for public consumption is vital.
