General Duties:
Relief operator performs technical and maintenance work in the operation, maintenance and repair of wastewater treatment facilities and systems; and operates heavy equipment. This position also provides relief to the WWTP Operators on weekends, days off, vacation, sick leave and holidays. Relief operators are part of an on-call rotation process.
Operator performs work in the operation of wastewater treatment facilities and systems, including monitoring and operating equipment, collecting samples and recording sample statistical data.
Candidates with proper wastewater licensure may be hired as an operator; candidates without a wastewater licensure would be hired as a relief operator and receive necessary training.
Minimum Requirements:
Relief Operator – High school/GED; three (3) years’ experience in wastewater utility or equipment maintenance; CDL with air brake and tanker endorsement.
Operator – Associate’s Degree or equivalent training at a technical or vocational school with a focus on Wastewater Technology or related field; two (2) years of experience in wastewater, Class B Wastewater Operator License, or ability to obtain and CDL with air brake and tanker endorsement.
