The Assistant Director of Public Services leads an experienced and dynamic team, requiring sound supervisory and excellent motivational, organizational, and record-keeping skills. The City seeks a highly professional and collaborative leader who anticipates and actively responds to the needs and demands of the department. The selected candidate must have experience with complex water and wastewater distribution systems and general public service operations. Experience with solid waste and recycling collections services would be preferred.

A bachelor’s degree in civil engineering, environmental science, public administration, or a related field is required. A master’s degree is preferred. A valid Class B Water Distribution License and a valid Class III Wastewater Collection Operator License are required or the ability to obtain within 12 months of hire. A class A Water Operator License is preferred. The selected candidate must have a minimum of eight years of experience, including at least five years in supervision, in the areas of construction, maintenance, and repair of water and wastewater systems. Familiarization with the NPDES mandate and its requirements imposed by TCEQ is required.

The compensation range for this position is $115,000 to $130,000.
