Want to lead a team of water/sewer field professionals in the maintenance and repair of utility facilities? You can be a crew chief and help build the Pender County Utilities program for in-house performing of water service installations and other associated utility work. Please come join our talented staff in our service to the community in providing potable drinking water to areas from the Cape Fear River all the way over to the US 17 corridor next to the Intercoastal Waterway in Hampstead. We are purchasing new equipment and training staff to self-perform this critical utility work, rather than relying on outside contractors, and you can lead that effort. We have a new training and certification program to ensure that you are rewarded for getting critical NC certifications, and we are working on multiple projects to improve and expand our water system. While we do have some sewer facilities, our primary focus is on water service across the county.


 Leads maintenance team in the installation, maintenance, and repair of water and sewer equipment and pipelines.
 Operates and maintains water and wastewater equipment ensuring compliance with regulatory agency requirements; maintaining records and files; preparing reports.
 Records daily pump run times and chlorine residuals at water and sewer pump stations and water tanks.
 Troubleshoots electrical, mechanical, and instrumentation equipment.
 Serves as Operator in Responsible Charge (ORC) or Backup ORC as needed or required for water and/or sewer operations.
 Checks for water and sewer leaks, flushes water lines, and replaces broken water meters and boxes.
 Locates and marks water and sewer lines for underground utility contractors.
 Inspects and installs secondary electrical distribution and control systems.
 Adjusts equipment, samplers, and controls as necessary to maintain optimum system performance.
 Cleans wet wells and operates pumps and valves to control and adjust flow.
 Maintains records and prepares a variety of reports for regulatory agencies concerning wastewater treatment operations.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
