Diablo Water District is looking for a motivated individual who is able to perform unskilled and skilled labor-intensive tasks that include setting chemical feed dosages; calibrating analyzers; troubleshooting, repairing metering pumps, flow meters and related equipment with the understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic principals. Must be able to meet deadlines in the installation, repair, operation and maintenance of the District's water system. Must be able to lift and carry 50 pounds repeatedly and have a valid CA driver’s license. THE DISTRICT WILL REQUIRE any applicant invited to a second interview to furnish the District, at his/her expense, a current copy of a California DMV transcript indicating a clean driving record and copies of certifications.
JOB DUTIES SUMMARY
Under general supervision or in the absence of a supervisor, plans daily work activities. Operates and maintains various valves, pumps, chemical feed equipment, switches, instruments, recorders, control equipment, and other mechanical, electrical, or computer equipment. Operates and maintains water blending facility along with various well systems under District control. Makes accurate oral and written reports as required. Performs water quality activities by collecting and testing samples using standard procedures and quality control. Monitors water quality and adjusts chemical feed rates and residual levels with remote controls or manually. Operates hand and power tools and electronic equipment and instruments to service, make routine repairs and adjustments to equipment devices used in water treatment facilities. Ability to determine which supplies, fittings, materials, and equipment are required for a specific task. Subject to being on call for seven days at a time in accordance with the District’s regulations. Responds to alarms, equipment failures and takes necessary actions to maintain a reliable water supply. Must be able to be on jobsite within 45 minutes of a call-out. Responds to customer’s complaints and addresses customers in a courteous and responsive manner.

Education – Possess a high school diploma, G.E.D equivalency, or high school proficiency certificate.
Experience – Two years field experience in any combination of education and experience that has led to the acquisition of the knowledge’s, skills, and abilities as indicated above.
DESIRED CERTIFICATIONS OR ABILITY TO OBTAIN WITH IN 2 YEARS OF APPOINTMENT
- CA SWRCB Water Distribution Grade D2, Water Treatment T2 certificates, and General Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester
- Successful completion of medical examination before employment
- Must be able to pass drug test & background check
- Maintain a valid Class C California driver’s license throughout employment
