WATER QUALITY SUPERVISOR (Superintendent)

Salary: 79,372.80 - 101,150.40 Annual

Under general direction of the Treatment Division Director, the Water Quality Supervisor is responsible for overall technical and administrative management of the Water Quality Section (Laboratory Services). Responsible for managing all laboratory operations with monitoring programs for water, wastewater, and industrial waste. Evaluate federal, state and local water and wastewater regulations and operating permits to determine required monitoring requirements. Establish priorities for, plans, and coordinate sampling and laboratory analysis to meet monitoring requirements of environmental regulations, discharge permits, and operational needs within Anchorage Water & Wastewater Utilities (AWWU). Evaluate data and prepare reports for federal and state agencies. Responsible for managing and administering user access and privileges for AWWU's Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) and integrates LIMS information into the Water Information Management System (WIMS). Determine fiscal requirements and prepare preliminary operating and capital budget requests and insures cost effective operation. Responsible for staffing requests, material acquisition and employee training. Perform other related duties as assigned.

High school diploma, GED, or equivalent and nine (9) years of experience in water or wastewater analysis which includes two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position. OR Associate's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Construction Management,  Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, electrical/automation technology or a related discipline and seven (7) years of experience in water or wastewater analysis which includes two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position. OR Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Finance, Economics, Construction Management,  Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electronics, Communications, Environmental Health, Safety Engineering, Chemistry, Biology or a related discipline and five (5) years of experience in water or wastewater analysis which includes two (2) years in a supervisory or lead position.
