Description

Plant Operator Lead Salary Range: $23.09 - $33.71/Hourly; DOQ
Performs difficult technical work monitoring and troubleshooting the functionality and efficiencies of the Utility Plant process, performing preventative maintenance and repairs of equipment, collecting samples and performing routine testing, maintaining files and records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Utility Supervisor. Continuous supervision is exercised over assigned personnel.

SPECIAL NOTE:
Candidate must possess Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade III Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification or equal grade certification from another state at the time of hire. ADEQ certification must be obtained through reciprocity within six (6) months of employment. Arizona Department of Environmental Quality can recognize out of state certification through the use of reciprocity. This process may be used to meet the certification requirements before hire.

The ideal candidate will have multiple years’ experience working in a lead position at a conventional surface water treatment plant. They must be able to lead, train and mentor lower level staff members while taking responsibility for the day to day operation of the plant.

PLANT OPERATOR JOB DESCRIPTION:

Plant Operator Salary Range: $21.99 - $32.10/Hourly; DOQ
Performs intermediate technical work monitoring and troubleshooting the functionality and efficiencies of the Utility Plant process, performing preventative maintenance and repairs to assigned area and equipment, collecting samples and performing routine testing, transporting and distributing bio-solids, maintaining files and records, and related work as apparent or assigned. Work is performed under the limited supervision of the Utility Supervisor.

SPECIAL NOTE:
Candidate must possess ADEQ Grade II Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification or equal grade certification from another state at the time of hire. ADEQ Grade III Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification must be obtained within six (6) months of employment. Arizona Department of Environmental Quality can recognize out of state certification through the use of reciprocity. This process may be used to meet the certification requirements before hire. May require the use of a respirator. May be subject to call back. Primary assignment will be in water treatment.

The ideal candidate will be trustworthy, reliable and self-motivated. They must be a team player who has the ability to multitask, accept direction and be flexible. They should have adequate experience to effectively operate the city's conventional water treatment system.

Requirements

PLANT OPERATOR LEAD:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED and considerable experience in utility plant operations and maintenance, or equivalent combination of education and experience
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS IN ADDITION TO SPECIAL NOTE ABOVE:
Possession of Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification within twelve (12) months of hire. 

PLANT OPERATOR:

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or GED and moderate experience in utility plant operations, or equivalent combination of education and experience in addition to special note above.
