Salary Scale: Project Engineer - $72,841 - $103,251.20 DOQ                 Salary Scale: Sr. Project Engineer - $81,411 - $115,398.20 DOQ

Overview: Augusta Water is a local utility providing water and sewer services to businesses and residents in Augusta County, VA since 1966.  Augusta Water owns and operates 10 separate water systems, including seven microfiltration treatment systems, and a water distribution network comprised of over 415 miles of water mains. Wastewater collection and conveyance is provided through more than 232 miles of mains, and treatment at four major facilities and five smaller facilities.  We are located in the Central Shenandoah Valley in close proximity to the cities of Staunton, Waynesboro, Harrisonburg, Lexington, and Charlottesville. 
Working with the Augusta Water Engineering Department provides opportunities to use and develop your skills. As a team, Engineering works to continually innovate for better management of natural and financial resources.

Responsibilities: The Project Engineer or Senior Project Engineer (“Engineer”) position provides company-wide support on a wide-range of projects and programs as part of a multi-disciplined group. This position will be overseeing programs such as hydraulic system modeling (Innovyze), water accountability across our 10 water systems, and coordinating activities in support of the Local Review Program for construction plans. Augusta Water has committed to multi-mile substandard water line replacement each year. This position will support the preparation of construction plans for these projects. The Engineer will also assist with other capital projects, engineering consultant coordination, and project management.  

Qualifications/Experience: An engineering degree is required. Civil or mechanical engineering degrees and experience in the utility industry are preferred. Experience in the water and/or wastewater industry is highly preferred. Project Engineer must possess an Engineer in Training (EIT) designation. Senior Project Engineer must be a Registered Professional Engineer in the Commonwealth of Virginia, or ability to obtain it within 6 months of hire.
Required Skills: Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing to understand directions, procedures, maintain records, and effectively communicate with others. Must have knowledge of, or the ability to learn the design, construction, and operation of water and wastewater systems and knowledge of construction and maintenance estimating. Must have knowledge of office and engineering software and exhibit a positive attitude to effectively deal with the public, visitors, customers, local government, and agency officials and co-workers. Must be able to operate a motor vehicle and possess a valid Virginia Driver’s License and be insurable through the Augusta Water’s current vehicle insurance carrier.
