Maryland Rural Water Association (MRWA) is looking for a motivated person with broad wastewater utility experience for a Wastewater Circuit Rider position.

The Wastewater Circuit Rider provides on-site technical assistance to rural and small-town community wastewater systems throughout the state of Maryland on a routine and/or an emergency basis. Examples of assistance provided include operational problems, regulatory matters, line location, leak detection, preventative maintenance, pigging operations, collection systems, chemical and biological treatment, sewer camera operation, smoke testing techniques and other related wastewater issues. All MRWA staff are required to submit written articles of interest to our industry for publication in MRWA’s quarterly magazine and participate in all Association events. You will work from your home base and report to our Woodbine office. You will be required to attend the MRWA Annual Conference in Ocean City each May, and attend National Rural Water Association (NRWA) In-Service Training each June and NRWA Annual Conference each September. NRWA events are held in various cities throughout the United States.

This is a full time position (40 hours per week/2080 hours/year) and requires periodic over-night travel throughout the State of Maryland.

REQUIREMENTS:  

Applicant must have a Maryland Water Operator-3, Maryland Wastewater Operator-4 or -5A License and also must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience operating, maintaining, or managing a wastewater system. Applicant will also need the ability to communicate effectively with operators, decision makers, as well as regulatory agencies. A Wastewater Circuit Rider must have the ability to identify, locate, troubleshoot and explain problems to wastewater system personnel and decision makers. Must be computer literate and be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook and the internet for research purposes. Must be very organized, excellent at meeting deadlines, submitting paperwork and have a valid driver’s license.
