The City of Manhattan Beach is now accepting applications for the Water Plant Operator position in the Public Works Department. The Water Plant Operator will be responsible for plant facilities, including SCADA, groundwater wells, reservoirs, booster stations and disinfection systems to ensure customers receive adequate water volume, pressure, and purity. The Water Plant Operator will have knowledge of federal, state, and county water quality regulations, requirements and reporting. This position will be required to work independently and with small teams. In addition, we are looking for an energetic team player who is able to establish and maintain effective and professional working relationships with staff, contractors, vendors, and general public.

The City is currently in the planning phase of the replacement of it's 7.5 MG reservoir and pump station which will also incorporate Iron and Manganese treatment. Candidates with well treatment including Iron and Manganese treatment experience is desirable.

QUALIFICATIONS:
Licenses: A valid California Class "C" driver's license is required at time of employment and acceptable driving record is required.

Certifications: Possession of a California State Health Department T2 Water Treatment Certificate at time application. Possession of a California State Health Department D3 Water Distribution Operator Certificate is required within one (1) year of employment.

Experience: One (1) year of recent experience in the maintenance and operation of the facilities of a domestic water distribution system.

Special Requirements: Must comply with a 30 minute response to a standby call from main pumping plant.
