The Construction Inspector I/II coordinates with contractors and other concerned parties for inspection services, and ensures project compliance with District plans, specifications, and policies. This position regularly meets with representatives of utility companies, contractors, public agencies, and the public, and answers citizen complaints and requests for information. Inspectors compile and review "as-built" plans for completeness and accuracy; review preliminary plans and shop drawings; prepare inspection reports on District projects; and maintain daily logs and reports of underground facility locations. Inspectors also coordinate shutdown of District facilities affected by repairs, and ensure all facets of shutdowns comply with District standards. This position locates and marks out District underground piping, and may fill in for Facility Locator.
Qualifications include graduation from high school or equivalent, and possession of, or ability to obtain, a California Class C driver license.
Construction Inspector I requires 2 years’ experience in water and wastewater work related to construction or maintenance. A State Water Resources Control Board (SWRCB) Distribution 1 (D1) is highly desirable. Inspector II must have 2 years’ construction inspection experience equal to Construction Inspector I, and possess a SWRCB D1 certificate. A D2 is highly desirable.
The ideal candidate has experience in line locating and water/wastewater construction.
