The City of Stockton is seeking a dynamic and professional Deputy Municipal Utilities Director/Maintenance and Collection Systems. This position reports directly to the Director of Municipal Utilities and is responsible for planning, coordinating, managing, reviewing, evaluating, and participating in all wastewater collection facility and stormwater system operations, maintenance, and repair activities.

p to $157,129* w/o a PE up to $162,504* with a PE *2% COLA effective July 1, 2021

The ideal candidate will bring leadership and management skills in wastewater and stormwater maintenance/collection systems, complemented by a thorough working knowledge of preventive maintenance programs. Additionally, this professional will have the technical skills necessary to effectively manage a variety of preventive maintenance and repair programs, maintain maximum wastewater flow, minimize storm water intrusion, and provide work oversight, review, and evaluation to operational and maintenance personnel. The ideal applicant will successfully manage the City's National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System permit, including monitoring compliance to meet State of California requirements, compiling data, reports, forms, and information required to submit to the State and other agencies, liaise with environmental agencies, county health services and other local government agencies.

Education/Experience:
The successful candidate will possess a Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university with major coursework in Engineering or a closely related field, AND three years of supervisory experience in a water or wastewater utility or in underground pipeline construction and maintenance. Additional lead or operational level experience, as outlined above, may be substituted for the education on a year for year basis to a maximum of two years.

Other Requirements:
· Must possess a valid California Class C Driver License.
· Deputy Municipal Utilities Director/Maintenance & Collection Systems (PE) requires possession of a valid registration as a California Professional Civil Engineer.
