MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: High school diploma or GED. Applicant must have a minimum of seven (7) years’ of experience in wastewater treatment plant operations and sewer collections maintenance and repair with at least three (3) of those years in a supervisory capacity. Must possess and maintain a minimum of a State of Florida Department of Environmental Protection Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator Class C license, and obtain a Class B within six (6) months of employment. Possess and maintain a minimum of a Wastewater Collections Technician Certification Class C, or obtain within one (1) year of employment. Associate degree from an accredited college or university in closely related field preferred. Thorough knowledge of wastewater plant operating principles and practices, and typical wastewater collections systems and associated equipment required. Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Class B CDL driver license with airbrake endorsement, or be able to obtain one within six (6) months of employment.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES: Performs a variety of administrative and supervisory responsibilities to oversee the function of the City’s wastewater treatment plant and collection system. Responsible for the proper operation of all equipment and assigned personnel. Accurate examinations and highly technical decision making involving treatment plant processes, sewer collections performance, equipment utilization and repair, personnel safety, and public health. May be required to work overtime, or alternate hours, as necessary for the efficient operation of the Division. Complete other related duties as assigned.
EMPLOYMENT REQUIREMENTS: The selected candidate will have a background check completed, undergo drug testing and complete a physical exam before employment. Tasks may require occasional exposure to adverse environmental conditions. Possession and maintenance of a current valid Florida Class E driver license is also required before employment.
The compensation package will start at the base salary range. The City of Zephyrhills has an excellent benefit package, which includes medical, dental, life insurance, and Florida Retirement System (FRS).
