The Waste Water Superintendent is an appointed position that serves at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council. The position is eligible for reappointment every four years after a Mayoral election, with the most recent election being held in August 2020.
The Waste Water Superintendent supervises daily operations of a Class 5A Waste Water Treatment Plant and various other waste water facilities including various pump stations throughout Brunswick. This position is also responsible for all administrative functions of the Plant. The Superintendent receives direction from the Mayor and City Administrator and works closely with other Department Heads and staff to coordinate plant operations. The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining all applicable plant licenses and permits, and keeping the waste water treatment plant in compliance with all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) regulations.
