The town of Falmouth has an immediate opening for a Water Utilities Supervisor.
Responsibilities include supervisory work in directing water supply and treatment operations, water construction projects and maintenance programs and all other related work as required. Serves as primary water distribution system operator. Plans, schedules and supervises construction and maintenance projects related to the water supply, distribution, and treatment systems. Supervises the construction of extensions to the water distribution and the installation of related underground structures; directs excavation projects; may occasionally operate equipment related to excavation projects. Designs and oversees water system construction and maintenance projects, hydrants maintenance and the installation, repair and reading of water meters. May perform snow and ice control work; may assist other divisions and departments on specific projects or in emergencies. Trains new employees, ensures safety procedures are properly employed and safety equipment is properly utilized and maintained. Prepares work schedules and employee assignments. Evaluates and documents employee performance. Maintains a positive, respectful and productive work environment through example and responds to unacceptable behavior on the part of employees. Initiates disciplinary actions as appropriate. Acquires quotes/cost estimates for materials and services, prepares purchase requisitions, coordinates purchases, maintains inventory records and ensures adequate parts/materials inventory. Makes budget recommendations for future acquisitions. Coordinates work performed by contractors performing system repairs or modifications. Develops and implements Standard Operation Procedures for facility operations as necessary. Ensures clear and consistent written or electronic records are maintained. Ensures employees are familiar with and work within established procedures.
High school graduation with seven years of experience in public utility construction and maintenance activities including five years in water system operations or associate's degree in civil engineering, mechanical engineering, or related field and four years experience in water systems operations; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Possession of a valid Class B Commercial Driver's License with air brake endorsement. Possession of a valid Massachusetts Hoisting License. Possession of a valid D-4 Massachusetts Board of Certification of Operators distribution certification. Starting rate is $33.48-$36.21/hour, depending on experience.
