Description

The supervisor for Distribution System Maintenance (Heavy Crew) will be responsible for supervising up to three crews of four individual who are responsible for the maintenance and construction of the distribution system, including emergency response and routine work. The position will address customer concerns and provide resolution as necessary. The position requires a high level of problem solving and the ability to give guidance to employees.

The position will be housed out of Glen Bell Service Center. The hours for the position are Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm. All employees are required to be available for overtime, call-back, and on-call for emergency response on nights, weekends, and holidays. Pay is determined by experience that is both verifiable and directly related to the position. The salary range for the position is $23.87 - $30.43.

Out of state applicants may be eligible for license reciprocity between their home state licensing agency and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduation from an accredited high school or equivalent
  • Six years progressively responsible experience in construction or maintenance activities, including five years of experience in water and wastewater underground utility construction maintenance, and one year of which was in a lead or supervisory capacity
  • Valid Texas Commercial Driver's License
  • Required to stay current in the AW Respiratory Protection and Confined Space Entry programs
  • Class C Water Distribution license or higher from TCEQ (Texas Commission on Environmental Quality) required a time of hire. A Surface Water License may substitute.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Two years of experience supervising or leading a group of at least 4 individuals in a safety-sensitive field environment
  • Experience overseeing large long-term construction or utility related work projects
  • Experience training others on construction or utility related work processes to include the use of heavy equipment
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills related to customer service and conflict resolution
  • Knowledge of and experience enforcing excavation safety regulations
  • Basic computer skills to include experience with a work order management system and geographic information system technology
  • Knowledge of and experience with adhering to regulations and industry practices related to valve and hydrant repair and replacement
