Under general direction, the Superintendent plans, organizes, manages and supervises the operation and maintenance of District levees and flood control systems; responds in emergencies to system operating failures; individually and as a member of a team, patrols District’s levees and flood control systems to identify maintenance and repair needs; oversees the policies and procedures to establish and maintain a safe work environment for field personnel; provides worker safety and technical training on an ongoing basis; ensures that field activities are in compliance with federal, state and local environmental regulations; ensures hazardous materials compliance per County of Sacramento regulations; administers the Biennial Inspection of Terminal program; ensures air quality compliance of the fleet per various regulatory standards; supplies the California Department of Water Resources with biannual levee inspections; maintains the flood fight supplies inventory; interfaces with the general public and residents adjacent to the levee; provides advice and consultation to the General Manager and Board of Trustees regarding system operations and maintenance.

Possession of a Qualified Applicator’s Certificate issued by the California Department of Pesticide Regulation is desired.

The Superintendent’s position is at-will.

Pay Range: $8,765 - $11,833 per month
