Located along California’s Central Coast 8 miles north of Monterey, Marina Coast Water District (MCWD) provides its 35,000 residential customers high quality water, wastewater collection and conservation services that are safe, affordable, reliable and sustainable. All of MCWD’s water supply (approximately 3,200 Acre Feet/year) is pumped from groundwater wells. Monterey One Water operates the regional wastewater treatment plant that treats the wastewater collected by MCWD. The ideal General Manager candidate is a diplomatic and supportive leader who consistently exhibits strong management, leadership, communication and interpersonal skills. They are a water industry expert who’s known for brokering win-win solutions to complex challenges and issues. They are familiar with the principles and practices of public administration. They are organized, open-minded, flexible, strategic, genuine, honest, respectful and patient.
Requires the knowledge and experience to successfully perform the job and at least 10 years of progressively responsible executive or management experience in the operation of a publicly owned utility or public agency. Experience in engineering, especially water-related, is desirable but not required.
