Description

Small Colorado utility is looking for a reliable employee to work in our field location in Western Colorado. This position will be responsible for all types of operation and maintenance work on water supply, treatment, and distribution facilities including but not limited to:

1. Assist Plant and Distribution ORC with Daily tasks and routine Maintenance at the Water Plant.

• Keeping chemicals stocked and filled

• Unloading and properly staring new chemical barrels

• Removing empty chemical barrels

• “Burping” air build ups from C12 and poly lines

• Clean and maintain daily the Fin and Raw turbidity sensors

• Daily running of sludge rake in settling basin

• Cleaning surface scum build up in the Floc Filters and motor inspections

• Perform Routine backwash to maintain filter integrity

2. General Distribution Maintenance.

• Accurately locating water main lines for 811 call locate requests

• Monthly reading of meters

• Routinely checking the distribution system to include hydrants, water towers and services for visible or audible damage

• General maintenance to include weeding, uncovering and painting valves and hydrants

• Flushing water strategically through hydrants to maintain quality drinking water

• Annually inspecting ever meter for leaks and damages

• Annually exercising every mainline valve to maintain functionality

• Annually exercising every fire hydrant to maintain functionality

• Cleaning maintaining and storing tools to be ready for any project

3. Other Tasks.

• Installing meter pits for new construction

• Replacing valves and hydrants when they fail

• Snow removal around plant with shovel or backhoe

• Replacing, repairing, and maintaining main line PRV’s in vaults

• Backhoe maintenance (tires, oil changes, greasing bearing and cleaning

• Studying for and maintaining proper state certification

This position will periodically cover treatment duties for the water operator.

Experience in distribution system maintenance, certification preferred. Water Treatment and Distribution Certification is a plus. Experience with a backhoe is also helpful.

Compensation is based upon experience and qualifications. Health/Dental Insurance. PTO available, other benefits negotiable.  This position will have the opportunity for advancement to manage the Treatment Plant and Distribution System. 

Salary: $25.49 - $29.81 (Hourly Wage)

Requirements

2 - 3 years experience and Colorado distribution Class 2 certification preferrable.  Willing to study and take Water Treatment class certification as well.
