The Engineering Department provides engineering expertise, construction project management, technical services, and support to Central Arizona Project (CAP) and is seeking an experienced Project Manager to guide the organization in executing multi-disciplinary projects from the conceptual stage to implementation and completion.
Central Arizona Project (CAP) is the largest supplier of renewable water in the state of Arizona. We operate and maintain a 336 mile long aqueduct and pumping plant system that stretches from our source at the Colorado River to the communities of central and southern Arizona. On a yearly basis, we pump and deliver over 1.5 million acre-feet of water to enhance the state’s economy and quality of life and ensure sustainable growth for current and future populations of Arizonans. In this position, you would guide CAP in executing multi-disciplinary projects from the conceptual stage to implementation and completion. You would functionally operate with limited support from the Project Management Supervisor and Senior Project Managers. You would lead a defined project team through a collaborative project definition, assessment, review, and approval process, with oversight from an internal governing body. You would work collaboratively with your team and other involved CAP departments to develop project budgets and schedules. You would monitor, manage, and project future project costs for budget purposes and analysis. You would facilitate problem solving activities with your team and engage the appropriate CAP resources to reach solutions. Through the design process, you would facilitate both internal and external specification and drawing reviews and monitor the schedule and costs of the design. You would collaborate with the contract administration and construction inspection teams during the construction phase, tracking costs and schedule for each project assigned, reporting status periodically, and ensuring that all project documentation, including drawings are accurate, complete and retrievable.
The ideal candidate will possess a bachelor’s degree in an engineering discipline plus five years of experience working in the construction and/or engineering industries, preferably in a mechanical, electrical, or controls discipline. Effective interpersonal, communication (verbal and written), and computer skills are essential. Professional Engineering Registration (PE) and/or certification as a Project Management Professional (PMP) are preferred. See our website for more details.
