The City of Chandler Public Works & Utilities Department is currently seeking qualified individuals interested in joining our team as a Water Facilities Superintendent. This is a regular, full-time position with benefits.  The position is scheduled to work Monday through Thursday from 6:00am to 4:30pm.

Who we are
Chandler was the first city in Arizona to receive accreditation of our water and wastewater operations by the American Public Works Association, the toughest accreditation to achieve in the industry.  The Utilities Division is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the City's water, wastewater and reclaimed water infrastructure.  The Utilities team maintains and operates one water, one brine reduction and three wastewater facilities.  We treat over 64 million gallons of fresh water and 30 million gallons of treated water per day from our four primary water sources: Salt River, Verde River, Colorado River and access to 31 wells of ground water supply.  We also use advanced treatment processes to convert over 32 million gallons of wastewater into A+ reclaimed water to meet irrigation and industrial demands.  Service is provided to the City of Chandler residential, commercial, and industrial users by a network of 1,224 miles of active water mains, 942 miles of active sewer mains, and 92 miles of reclaimed water mains.

Who we are looking for
Our new team member will have a passion for customer service, team work, and collaboration. We are looking for someone to oversee and supervise the operation of the City’s Surface Water Treatment Plant (SWTP), equipment at well sites, booster and pumping stations, and remote treatment facilities. The selected individual will manage staff, plan and schedule the operation of all water production facilities, develop and monitor the divisional budget.

Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s Degree in Water or Wastewater Treatment, Public Health, Civil Engineering, Public Administration, or a related field; and
• Five (5) years water treatment system experience; and
• Two (2) lead and/or supervisory experience; and
• Arizona Grade IV Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate, or other state equivalent certification; and
• Arizona Grade IV Water Distribution Operator Certificate, or other state equivalent certification; and
• 40 Hour Hazwoper Certification within 6 months of hire or promotion date; and
• Valid Driver’s License with an acceptable driving record; or
• Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work.    
This is a regular full-time position, subject to a six (6) month probationary period.  A register of qualified candidates will be active for four (4) months should another position become available.  

The City of Chandler will conduct a pre-employment drug and alcohol test and a driving record check as a condition of employment.  An offer of employment is contingent upon acceptable results.  All applicants hired will be required to be fingerprinted with successful results as a condition of continued employment.

The use of recreational marijuana is a violation of the City’s Drug Free Workplace Policy. Salary: $76,971.00 - $107,759.00 (Yearly Salary)
