The Pump Mechanic will have recent experience repairing and installing large pumps and valves.

Pump Mechanic I: One (1) year of experience performing pump and valve maintenance and operation.

Pump Mechanic II: Three (3) years of experience performing pump and valve maintenance and operation; including two (2) years of repairing large, multistage impeller pumps and automatic control regulating valves.

A valid California Class "C" Driver’s License and safe driving record.

The Pump Mechanic II also requires a California Water Environment Association (CWEA) Plant Maintenance Grade 1 Certification or equivalent (i.e. CWEA Mechanical Technologist Grade 2 or higher)  


High school diploma or G.E.D. for both levels
