The City of Rochester now welcomes applications for Operator 3 at the Water Reclamation Plant
Rochester is Minnesota’s third largest City with a population of more than 120,000. The Water Reclamation Plant (WRP) is a municipal wastewater treatment facility and is nationally recognized for its energy management initiatives. The City is now welcoming applications for Operator 3, an entry-level position within WRP. Responsibilities include performing routine/preventative maintenance; minor equipment/machinery maintenance; cleaning structures; maintaining grounds; operating equipment/vehicles; collecting samples; reading and recording of meters; and completing plant operational functions as assigned.
We are most interested in finding the best candidate for the job, and that individual may be one who comes with relevant transferrable skills from a variety of sources and experiences. The City will consider any equivalent combination of knowledge, skills, education, and experience to meet minimum qualifications. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to think broadly about your background and skill set for the role. A valid driver’s license is required. Individuals considered may have:
- Completed a diploma program in water environment technologies or related field from an accredited technical college training program
- Completed a Building Utility Mechanic (BUM) diploma or degree program and had one year of operational experience at a Class B or higher wastewater treatment facility
- a high school diploma or equivalent and three years of operational experience at a Class B or higher wastewater treatment facility
A Minnesota Wastewater Treatment Facility Operator Class D certification is required within one year of hire.
The 2024 wage range is Starting wage is $25.28 to $32.72 per hour. An excellent benefits package is included. Applications review will begin on February 26, 2024.
