Coordinates and supervises the construction, installation, inspection, maintenance, repair and/or rehabilitation of the City’s sanitary sewer system; and to perform other technical, administrative and supervisory work as required. Supervises subordinate staff. Supervisory duties include scheduling; instructing; assigning, reviewing and planning work of others; maintaining standards; coordinating activities; assisting with the selection of new employees; acting on employee problems; recommending and implementing employee discipline., offers training, advice and assistance as needed.
Oversees daily sewer line operations, which may include system installation, inspection, testing, maintenance and/or repair, and rehabilitation projects. Reads and interprets sewer system design drawings. Uses and supervises the use of closed-circuit television equipment and other specialized equipment used in system inspections.
Coordinates utility locates prior to any excavation work. Ensures proper clean-up of work sites at project completion. Inspects work in progress and at completion for compliance with applicable policies, procedures, laws, regulations, contracts, permits, and/or standards of quality and safety. Gives technical advice and assistance to co-workers and subordinates as needed.
Requires high school diploma or GED equivalent supplemented by formal training, special courses or self-education that is equivalent to satisfactory completion of one year of college education or specialized advanced training in construction, utility maintenance or a closely related field.
Must possess a valid state CDL driver’s license. Must possess certifications in trenching and excavation, confined space entry, and CPR/First Aid. Class “A” Wastewater Collection System Operator certification is preferred.
Requires over four years and up to and including eight years.
Salary $42,996 annually depending on qualifications. Excellent Non SC Retirement benefits.
