The City of Brunswick, Maryland has an immediate need for a qualified Water Treatment Plant Superintendent. The Water Superintendent is an appointed position that serves at the pleasure of the Mayor and Council. The position is eligible for reappointment every four years after a Mayoral election. The next election is August 2020.
The Water Superintendent supervises daily operations of a Class 4 Water Treatment Plant and various other water facilities including Yourtee Springs, a reservoir, water towers, storage tanks, and pump stations. The Superintendent receives direction from the Mayor and City Administrator and works closely with other Department Heads and staff to coordinate plant operations. The Superintendent is responsible for maintaining all applicable plant licenses and permits, and keeping the water treatment plant in compliance with all Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and Maryland Department of the Environment (MDE) regulations.
Qualified candidates will possess a Maryland Class 4 Water Treatment Operator License, and have, or be able to obtain, a Class 4 Superintendent License. The ideal candidate has prior supervisory experience and is highly organized and responsible. The candidate should be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. While the majority of this work is performed during normal business hours, the Superintendent must be able to respond to the Water Treatment Plant in a timely manner at all times, and also be able to attend evening meetings as required.
