Description

City of Martinez is currently seeking qualified candidates to fill a Water Treatment Plant Operator position.

This position, under the supervision of the Operations Supervisor, operates, inspects, and maintains City's water treatment plant and related facilities to supply, treat, store and distribute water for the City's potable water distribution system. The water system consists of a T5 conventional water treatment facility using ozone for disinfection, and a D3 water distribution system serving approximately 35,000 customers. The mission of the Martinez water treatment division is to produce and deliver the highest quality water at the best possible price.

Qualifications/Education/Experience

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Completion of high school or equivalent.

     

  • Possession of Water Treatment Plant Operator Certificate T-3 issued by the State of California California and sufficient demonstration of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to independently perform the duties of the position.


OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
Possess a valid California driver's license with a satisfactory driving record; ability to pass a pre-employment physical examination and a background check through Livescan.

DESIRABLE QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  • Knowledge of basic methods and techniques of water treatment plant operations; maintenance, and servicing of pumps and other plant equipment and machinery; basic techniques to prepare and perform standardized laboratory tests.

     

  • Ability to perform standardized laboratory tests; make repairs and/or adjustments to water treatment equipment; read and interpret gauges and recording devices used in the water treatment plant; lift sacks of chemicals; read and follow written and oral instructions; to work effectively with others; maintain records and prepare reports; establish and maintain effective and cooperative relationships; supervise personnel in the proper performance of their duties in accordance with recognized practices of personnel supervision.


Salary: $70,426 to $85,622 Annually
