$39,707 to $63,523 Annually

Operation and Maintenance activities associated with a large complex Wastewater Treatment Facility. Candidate will be responsible for collecting and analyzing wastewater samples, analyzing data and trends, performing routine maintenance activities, operating industrial equipment such as pumps, mixers, valves and large centrifuges, monitoring alarms and equipment failures, utilizing SCADA (supervisory control and data acquisition) for plant operation, performing laboratory analysis, review and compile regulatory data and reports, coordinate operational activities, work in cross functional teams to complete tasks. Candidate will report to lead operator at the facility. The Operator 1 position will be expected to have already obtained a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Florida Wastewater treatment Operator Class "C" License upon hire. Ideal candidate will have desire and ambition to obtain higher licensure in the future (Class "B" and Class "A" license after required experience is met).

Position-Specific Requirements

 

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent and at least 1 year (2080 hours) of experience in the performance of process control including the performance of operational control tests and evaluation and interpretation of the test results, preparation of plant process control reports, logs, or records, analysis and disposal or distribution of the plant product and the residuals from the treatment process, and control of the hydraulic system and necessary chemical adjustments, water distribution system operation and maintenance, sample collection and analysis, electronic surveillance system monitoring, and plant maintenance; or

     

  • Must possess a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Florida Wastewater Plant Operator Class "C" License or higher as set forth in the Florida Administrative Code Chapter 62-202, DEP describing Water or Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and Water Distribution System Operators license requirements; or

     

  • Associate's Degree in Water or Wastewater Technology, civil or environmental engineering or a related field and at least 1 year (2080 hours) of experience in the performance of process control including the performance of operational control tests and evaluation and interpretation of the test results, preparation of plant process control reports, logs, or records, analysis and disposal or distribution of the plant product and the residuals from the treatment process, and control of the hydraulic system and necessary chemical adjustments, water distribution system operation and maintenance, sample collection and analysis, electronic surveillance system monitoring, and plant maintenance; or

     

  • Bachelor’s or higher level degree in civil or environmental engineering or a related field and at least 1 year (2080 hours) of experience in the performance of process control including the performance of operational control tests and evaluation and interpretation of the test results, preparation of plant process control reports, logs, or records, analysis and disposal or distribution of the plant product and the residuals from the treatment process, and control of the hydraulic system and necessary chemical adjustments, water distribution system operation and maintenance, sample collection and analysis, electronic surveillance system monitoring, and plant maintenance; or.

     

  • An equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

     


Additional Requirements

 

  • Possession and maintenance of a valid Florida Driver's License.

     

  • Must possess a Florida Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Florida Wastewater Plant Operator Class "C" License or higher as set forth in the Florida Administrative Code Chapter 62-202, DEP describing Water or Domestic Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator and Water Distribution System Operators license requirements

     

  • Assignment to work a variety of work schedules including compulsory work periods in special, emergency, and /or disaster situations.
