The City of Upland is currently seeking an experienced, self-motivated Senior Utility Systems Worker – Sewer with the ability to work both proactively and responsively with a team. This individual will lead a team in maintaining, repairing, and performing construction work in the sewer collection system. This will include the operation of state of the art hydro-jetting and CCTV video equipment. Must be willing and able to work in adverse conditions at any time of the day or night seven days per week. Work will involve labor intensive emergency repair work. Unscheduled overtime will be required for the emergency response to Sewer System Overflows.
To become part of our Sewer Utilities team, you will need at least three years of journey level experience in construction or maintenance. Experience in a public agency or utility district is desirable. You will also need to possess a Grade III or higher Wastewater Collection Systems Maintenance Certificate from the California Water Environment Association; and a Grade I Water Distribution Operator Certification from the California Regional Water Resources Control Board Department of Drinking Water with the ability to get a Grade II Water Distribution Operator Certification within 12 months; and the ability to get a Grade I Water Treatment Operator Certificate from the California Regional Water Resources Control Board Department of Drinking Water Grade I Treatment Operator Certificate from the California Regional Water Resources Control Board within the first 12 months of employment. You will also need a high school diploma/GED and possession of or the ability to obtain a valid Class A or B Commercial California driver’s license with tanker endorsement.
