Kinneloa Irrigation District (KID) invites you to advance your water industry career with a small public water agency in the foothills of the San Gabriel Mountains. We are currently hiring for a Senior Water Facilities Operator. Although our service area is small with under 600 retail customers, we have a complex system due to our topography. We self-produce 100% of our water through two groundwater well pumps and five active horizontal gravity tunnel wells. We have 6 booster stations and a total of 13 booster pumps, ~4 million gallons of storage distributed through multiple steel and concrete tanks and chlorine disinfection plants at all source sites.

Under general supervision of the Facilities Supervisor and the General Manager the primary responsibilities of this position is to perform a variety of lead-level work in the construction, modification, maintenance, and repair of the District’s water distribution system and infrastructure. Experience with pumps, motors, electrical system troubleshooting and pumping operations is highly desirable. Experience with SCADA including set points and time-clocks for pumping operations is desirable.

The District staff is small with 3 full-time field operators, a General Manager that works part-time in the field and 2 administrative support staff. We are looking for someone committed to a career with the District as we all support each other daily to achieve our collective and personal goals.

IMPORTANT NOTES:

-Must be able to respond to after-hours emergencies and reside within a 45 minute commute of the Company office, even during peak traffic hours.

-Must be able to work some weekends and be on-call for after-hours emergency calls. E

-Work schedule is 9/80 with every other Friday off.

-Weekend standby duty will require daily facility checks on assigned weekend. Each operator is assigned a weekend shift every 4 weeks on a rotating basis.

KNOWLEDGE, KILLS, TRAINING, EXPERIENCE & LICENSING:

-Must possess a valid California Class C Driver’s License and be insurable under the Company’s policy

-Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent

-Must have a working knowledge of basic features of work processing programs (e.g. Microsoft Word) and electronic mail processing programs

-Have the ability to perform basic mathematical functions; and have the ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operation and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals; and ability to write routine reports and correspondence

-Desire to learn new skills and immediately become a productive member of a high-performing team

-Must have a D2 Water Distribution Operator and T2 Treatment Operator certification at time of application. Must have the work experience required to receive a D3 certification at time of application. If the applicant does not have a D3 certificate at time of hire, it will be a condition of employment to secure within 6 months of hire, tuition reimbursement for approved coursework will be available.

PHYSICAL, MENTAL, ENVIRONMENTAL CONDITIONS:

Position requires sitting, standing, and walking on uneven and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, crawling, and making repetitive hand movements above and below shoulder level in the performance of daily duties. The position also requires both near and far vision when inspecting work and operating assigned equipment and acute hearing is required when providing face-to-face service. The need to lift, carry, pull and push tools, supplies and other equipment weighing up to 50 pounds is also required. Additionally, the incumbent in this position works outdoors in all weather conditions, including wet, hot and cold. Outdoor work requires exposure to slippery surfaces, cramped positions, moving objects, vibrations, noise, odors, dust, dirt and oils. Exposure to chemicals may be encountered. The incumbent may be required to respond to after-hours emergency call- outs.
