- Managing, supervising and coordinating maintenance and operations activities of the Planning & Public Works Sewer Division; a division that is committed to delivering high quality, cost effective service with 100+ highly skilled operations and maintenance staff.
- Assigning, reviewing and approving the work of a highly motivated and knowledgeable operations and maintenance management team.
- Participating in the development of future vision and goals for the Planning & Public Works Sewer Division.
- Participating in the preparation of a $24 million operations and maintenance budget.
- Ensuring consistent interpretation and application of laws, rules, policies and procedures.
- Managing responsibility for maintaining and complying with all permits and regulatory requirements for the County's wastewater system.
- Coordinating with staff in the development of comprehensive long-range maintenance plans; and the implementation of long and short-range strategic asset management goals and objectives for our growing sewer utility.
- Determining maintenance needs; and assisting in the implementation of proposed work plans, specifications and estimates for labor, equipment and materials for a variety of maintenance activities and projects on the County's two wastewater treatment plants, 100+ pump stations and 700+ miles of collection and transmission facilities.

- Knowledge of materials, methods, and techniques used in wastewater operations and maintenance or other public work operations and maintenance disciplines.
- Knowledge of computer language, data submission and report gathering.
- Knowledge of practices of administration and management supervision.
- Knowledge of the methods and procedures of program planning, asset management and budget preparation.
- Knowledge of principles and practices of public administration, organization, personnel management and modern supervisory practices.
- Skill in the use of independent judgment and effective decision-making in the application of a wide variety of laws, policies and procedures and in effective problem-solving.
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing to audiences of various social, cultural, ethnic, educational and economic backgrounds.

Eight (8) years of closely related maintenance and/or operations experience and five (5) years of maintenance and/or operations supervisory experience OR any equivalent combination of experience and education is required. Positions in specific maintenance and operations areas may require program-related experience, education and or training.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR QUALIFICATIONS:
Satisfactory physical condition, as evidenced by a County-approved physical examination, may be required as a condition of employment. Ability to successfully complete all required background investigations.
