The Water/Wastewater Operator is responsible for the operation and maintenance of water treatment/distribution and wastewater collection, treatment, and disposal of utility infrastructure to include OSSFs, water wells, and lift stations at Precinct 3 facilities. Candidate will work alongside a team of water and wastewater operators providing services to Harris County Precinct 3 parks, community centers, road and bridge camps and administrative buildings. Candidate must be responsible, hard-working, and willing to learn.

Maintain and repair water and wastewater facilities. Inspect and conduct maintenance on utility repairs, meter leaks, and tap line leaks.

Respond to and investigate service calls. Review service orders for accuracy, details, materials, and comments. Initiate service orders as needed.

Observes and monitors equipment and operations daily; assesses problems, diagnoses equipment failures.

Orders supplies as needed to maintain inventory.

Performs daily analyses of effluent samples; makes any adjustments necessary to keep facility within permit limits; sets up sampler for required regulatory samples.

Maintain daily log of data for EPA and TCEQ reports.

Disaster/Recovery activities as needed to include temporarily closing and reopening facilities.
Education and Experience:

High School diploma or G.E.D. equivalent and a minimum of two (2) years' experience in water/wastewater utility operations or construction; or an equivalent amount of experience in similar operations (construction, maintenance, etc.)
OR
Licensure:

Valid TCEQ water or wastewater license, or the ability to obtain a license within one year.

Valid TX driver's license.
