The City of Minneapolis is seeking a full-time Supervisor, Engineering Technician II to manage the efficient delivery of high-level technical engineering and administrative support services for the Water Treatment and Distribution Services Division; manage resources and oversee staff; and assist in the maintenance of a records management systems for Engineering and Treatment Operations work groups that provides up-to-date information and historical reference.  Projects will include watermain modifications throughout the city and treatment plant updates.

  • Deliver, efficient and effective technical engineering and administrative support to customer groups and address concerns in a cost effective and timely manner by working both as an individual contributor and through management of the engineering technician and administrative support teams.
  • Prioritize the work of a team of engineering technicians, each of whom are working on several projects with multiple engineers.
  • Represent the Public Works Department in meetings with engineers, consultants, contractors, and the public regarding City standards and technical requirements for proposed work.
  • Make calculations for a variety of purposes including - cost estimations, budgets, and survey and measurement work.
Working Conditions: 
Office and field work.  Field work may include exposure to loud noise, dust, dirt, fumes, gases, chemicals, high traffic areas and/or exposure to other types of conditions that may be found in a construction environment; ability to lift, push, pull, carry; ability to maneuver, stand, walk on rough, uneven and/or slippery surfaces.

Minimum Requirements:
Education: Associate Degree in Engineering Technology or related degree.
Work Experience: Three years of related experience, one year of which includes responsibility for overseeing the work of others or leading a crew.

An equivalent combination of related education and experience may be considered.
